Michael Stump

Michael Gerard "Stumpy" Stump, age 61 of Pewamo, MI, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 surrounded by family and friends at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo, MI on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Darrel Kempf officiating.  Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pewamo, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI.

Michael was born in Ionia, MI on November 26, 1957 the son of Melvin and Alice (Fink) Stump.  Stumpy was a graduate of Pewamo Westphalia High School and resided most of his life in Pewamo.  Stumpy married Korisia Smalley on August 2, 2003 in Pewamo.

Stumpy worked at Devereaux Saw Mill for 42 years.  He loved to play horse shoes, hunt and fish.  Most of all Stumpy loved his family and spending time with them.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Stumpy is survived by his wife Korisia Stump of Pewamo, MI; 2 sons: Nikoa and Chi Hattis of Kentwood, MI; Blake Stump of Pewamo, MI; daughter Victoria Stump of Pewamo, MI; mother Alice Stump of Pewamo, MI; 2 brothers: Billy Stump of Pewamo, MI; Steve and Vicky Stump of Hubert, NC; father and mother-in-law Thomas and Cheryl Johns of Crystal, MI; brother-in-law Michael and Michelle Smalley of Pewamo.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Stump.
