Michael Jess Tompkins, age 55, of St. Johns, MI died Friday, August 29, 2014 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Pilgrim United Methodist Church in St. Johns, MI with Pastor Andy Croel officiating.

Michael was born in Lansing, Michigan on January 1, 1959, the son of Ernest Tompkins and Diane (Youngs) Harger. Mike was an avid hunter, even in his wheelchair. He loved mentoring youth in hunting, fishing, and counseling. He was a member of Pilgrim United Methodist Church in St. Johns, MI.

Mike is survived by his mother Diane Harger of St. Johns, MI, father David Harger of St. Johns, MI, brother David and Dolores Tompkins of St. Johns, MI, brother Gordy and Tina Tompkins of Lansing, MI, sister Traci and Darrell Deering of St. Johns, MI, brother Dan Harger of Spring Hill, TN, brother Eric and Terri Harger of St. Johns, MI, sister Holly and John Noble of Tarpan Springs, FL, sister Sharon and Gordy Willett of Coral, MI, sister Christine Harger and Greg of Haslett, MI, 6 nieces, 14 nephews, several great nieces and nephews, aunt Barbara Harger of Onaway, MI, and special friend Casey Eiseler of St. Johns, MI. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, sister Diane DeCatur, uncle David Youngs, and uncle Sam Harger.
