Michael Vernon

Michael Keith "Mike" Vernon, age 70, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 2-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI.

Michael was born in Alma, Michigan on May 4, 1951, the son of Keith Vernon and Lorraine (Westerlund) Merchant.  He graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1969.  Mike married Donna Beck on September 16, 1972 at Dunning Memorial Chapel, Alma, MI.

Mike retired from Aircraft Precision after 40 years of service.  He was a basketball referee for 35 years and traveled all over the state.  Mike was an avid fisherman, golfer, and bowler.  He loved following high school sports and watching his grandchildren participate.

He is survived by his wife Donna Vernon, sons: Matt and Kari Vernon, Steve Vernon, and Todd and Brooke Vernon, and grandchildren: Riley Vernon and Avery Vernon.  He is also survived by his brother Pat and Carol Vernon, two sisters: Sue and Pat Crawford, and Sally Bosley and Kevin Newberry, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
