Mildred M. Bowen, age 95, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 11:00 A.M, Pastor Chris Higgins will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 26, 2009 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
Mildred was born in Oakley, Michigan on July 25, 1913, the daughter of Myron E. Coryell and Edith M. (Whitney) Coryell. She resided most of her life in the Corunna-Owosso area and graduated from Corunna High School. Mildred married Edmund Bowen on June 27, 1932 in Angola, Indiana. He passed away on August 29, 1991.
Mildred worked for Universal Electric for 24 years before retiring in 1979. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who spent her life nourishing and loving her family. Mildred loved to cook, garden, sew and was an avid Civil War buff. She was a member of First Church of Christ Owosso, MI.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Shirley and Jack Eldridge of Owosso, MI, son Edmund (Bud) Bowen & Mary Lee of Williamsburg, MI, 5 grandchildren; Greg and Deb Eldridge of Corunna, MI, Steve and Marlene Eldridge of Boca Raton, FL, Edie and Rob Nichols of Franklin, TN, E.J. Bowen of Williamsburg, MI, Meegan Reed of Logan, UT, great grandchildren; Kyle Nichols of Franklin, TN, Tom Nichols of Franklin, TN, Olivia Eldridge of Corunna, MI, Claire Eldridge of Corunna, MI, Dillan Adams of Boca Raton, FL, and Sophie Eldridge of Boca Raton, FL. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great-nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Earl, Dale & Bruce Coryell and 1 sister Edith Shantz.
