Mildred Giles

Mildred Irene Giles, age 90, of St. Louis, Michigan passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Randall Mead will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery Breckenridge, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 & Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.

Irene was born in Wheeler, Michigan on March 25, 1921, the daughter of Day and Cecelia (Riggs) Bigelow. She attended Breckenridge High School. On October 30, 1948 Irene married Basil Giles, he predeceased her in 2001. Irene was a homemaker and she enjoyed doing crossword & word find puzzles, she also enjoyed Michigan University Football. She was a member of St. Louis Church of God.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Giles of St. Louis, MI, 2 daughters; Nancy Decker of St. Louis, MI, Paris Decker of St. Louis, MI, granddaughter; Misty Thick of St. Louis, MI, 2 sisters; Velma and James Owens of Traverse City, MI, Frances McClintic of Alma, MI, and 2 brothers; Dean and Carol Bigelow of Traverse City, MI, Bernard and Hope Bigelow of Breckenridge, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Basil, sister Lillia Gross, and brother Herbert Bigelow.
