Minnie Gray
Minnie M. Gray, age 92, of Ashley, Michigan died Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Ashley Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Joe Pendelton officiating. Burial will take place at Collier Cemetery, Ashley, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 4-8 PM. at the funeral home.
Minnie was born in Mt. Savage, Maryland on March 9, 1920, the daughter of Dallis and Margaret (Beal) Murray. She graduated from Allentown Bible Institute.
On July 20, 1940 she married Forrest Burton Gray in Byrndale, PA. Forrest predeceased her on August 11, 1990. Minnie was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, quilting reading, baking, and she authored The Other Side of Missionary Life. Minnie and her husband Forrest served the Wesleyan Church in Strattonville, Geneva and Josephine PA. They then served the Department of World Missions in South Africa for 25 years. The moved to Ashley in 1978 and served the Wesleyan Church there for 6 years. She was a member of Ashley Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by 4 daughters; Nancy and Jan Coetzee of Johannesburg, South Africa, Florence Laros and Richard Hawkins of Dothan, AL, Norma Jean and Joe Pendleton of Greenville, MI, Elizabeth and John Sayler of Lonaconing, MD, 3 sons; Kenneth Gray of St. Johns, MI, Leslie and Emily Gray of Tawas, MI, Leonard and Lori Gray of Big Rapids, MI, 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 sisters; Ruth and Jack Davison of Bradenton, FL, Margaret Lebhaft of Espyville, PA, Shirley and John Turner of Richeyville, PA, 2 brothers; Bob Murray of Fl, and Sam Murray of Pontiac, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, 1 daughter Caroline Sue, 2 sons; Vincent and Forrest, 2 sisters; Ann Zirkle, Sylvia Seydor, 2 brothers; Earl and Bill Murray.
