Murle Martin

Murle “Larry” Martin, age 86 of Riverdale MI, passed on Monday January 21, 2019 at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis MI.

Larry was born on January 30, 1932 to the late Leon and Goldie (Wood) Martin of Ithaca MI. Larry graduated from Ithaca High School, Class of 1950.  He was married for 65 years to Carol Roberson. Carol passed in May of 2016. Larry resided in Gratiot County most of his life and enjoyed spending time, especially winters, at his home in Victoria TX.

Larry farmed for many years and retired from Fisher Body, General Motors after 32 years. After retirement he worked for Pioneer Seed. Family was a big part of his life and he was loved by everyone that knew him. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.

Larry is survived by his sons: Steven and Evelyn Martin of St Louis, Scott and Ruth Martin of Riverdale and his daughters Susan and Kelly Vliet of Midland, Laurie Sigsbey of Frederick MD, Julie and Dathan Kern of San Diego CA, Janette and George McGrand of Victoria TX; 16 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren; siblings: Virginia Ball of Lakeview, Sally Martin of Ithaca, Betty Reeves of Ithaca, Art Burch of Traverse City,  Helen and Fred Hoard of Ithaca, Nancy and Howard Crites of Ithaca, Don and Sherida Burch of St. Louis, LaDaun and Dave Longanbach of Sumner, Jerry Martin of Avon Park FL; sister-in-laws Nancy McKinney Neilson of Cambridge OH and Eunice Martin of Portsmouth NH.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son Garry Martin, his son-in-law Steven Sigsbey, and two brothers: Jack and Glen Martin.
