Myron Tethal

Captain Myron Frank Tethal, USCG (Ret), 66, formerly of Elsie, Mich., passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miroslav R. Tethal and Genevieve (Zucker) Tethal; and his brother, Carl R. Tethal.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Celeste Buck Tethal; his brother, Vladimer M. "Laddie" Tethal and wife, Patricia Tethal, of Saginaw, Mich.; two daughters, Shaleen Tethal Powell and husband, John Paul Powell, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Lindsey Faith Tethal and fiancé, Caley D. A. Wright, of London, England; and granddaughter, Saba Louise Powell. He was a wonderful husband and father and a great friend to many.

Captain Tethal was a 1970 graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy, received a Master of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 27 years of active duty. Throughout his life, he was an active volunteer in the church, school and community wherever he lived.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center and Richfield Recovery & Care Center for the kindness and care given to Myron over the past years.

A Funeral Service celebrating Myron's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Smith Family Funeral Home, 221 E. Main Street, Elsie. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
