Nancy Lee McKenzie, age 79, of Breckenridge, MI died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel 1333 E. Center Street, Ithaca, MI on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Jesse Perry will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Breckenridge, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Nancy was born in North Star, Michigan on December 18, 1930, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel (Lott) Quibell. She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1948. Nancy married Ernest McKenzie on January 15, 1949 in North Star, MI. He passed away December 29, 2004. She has resided in Emerson Township for all of her adult life. She loved painting, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, baking, canning, playing piano, and enjoying her dog Lucy. Nancy loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandson. She and her family enjoyed many summers at her cottage at Lake George, and liked traveling to Florida in the winters. In the past she enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was a member of Emerson Presbyterian Church, where she was an active volunteer.
She is survived by her daughter Debra and Michael Davis of White Pigeon, MI, son Jeffrey and Barbara McKenzie of Breckenridge, MI, daughter Kimberly McKenzie and partner Nicole and children of St. Louis, MI, daughter Kolleen and Terry Phillips of Minocqua, WI, 4 grandchildren; Aaron and Gaynor McKenzie of Breckenridge, MI, Adam McKenzie of San Antonio, TX, Kyle McKenzie of Grand Rapids, MI, Kristopher Phillips of Grand Rapids, MI, and 1 great grandson Gerreck McKenzie of Breckenridge, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Miranda Phillips, a sister Barbara, and a brother William.
