Naomi M. Oswald age 88 of St. Louis, passed away Sunday, January 09, 2005 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, Michigan. She had been a resident there since 2002. Visitation will be from 3-5 & 6-9 on Monday, January 10, 2005 at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 1:30: P.M. at Masonic Pathways, Doig Chapel in Alma, Michigan Pastor George Ayoub & Rev. James Adams will officiate and burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, Michigan.


Naomi was born to Vern & Mary Elizabeth (Walker) Crumbaugh on September 15, 1916 in Gratiot County, Michigan. She graduated from St. Louis High School in 1933 and worked for Michigan Chemical as a switchboard operator and later worked in the office for Michigan Livestock Exchange. She was however, at heart, a wife and mother. Naomi married Romaine Oswald on June 24, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in St. Louis. The enjoyed nearly 52 years together. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Mrs. Oswald was a farmera�(TM)s wife and took great pride in her work as she gardened., canned, sewed and helped her husband manage the farm. She was a hardworking, kind woman who was liked by everyone. She will be remembered for her hand stitched quilts and crafts, her homemade noodles, cinnamon rolls, and applesauce. Her sense of humor and love will be missed by her family. Naomi liked to be involved and was a member of the St. Louis Church of the Nazarene, County Home Extension group, and a local card party club.

Naomi is survived by three children; Victor ( Linda ) Oswald of Breckenridge; Pat ( Edmund ) Benson of St. Louis; and Suezell ( Ron ) Adams of Middlebury, Indiana. Also surviving are five granddaughters, Angela (Tom) Barton; Angela (Dan) Donner; Jamie Moeggenberg; Melissa Adams, and Sara Oswald, and six grandsons; Jeff Palmer, Ben ( Magda) Moeggenberg, Matt ( Heidi) Palmer, Eric Adams, Randy Palmer, and Kevin Palmer. Mrs. Oswald also has four great-grandchildren Tommy, Troy, and Katie Barton and Cole Moeggenberg. Mrs. Oswald is also survived by two sisters-in-laws, Lillian ( Bud) Richardson, and Joann ( Harvey) Farrand.

She was predeceased by her son Tom in 1968, son-in-law Jim Palmer in 1987, a daughter-in-law Kathleen in 1989, granddaughter, Kim in 1997, and three brothers Harold, Robert, and Laurel Crumbaugh.
