Necia (Culver) Beck age 94 of St. Johns, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 9, 2005 at the Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel. Rev. Margery A. Schleicher will officiate and burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, Michigan. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. and Monday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Necia was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 10, 1911, the daughter of Arthur and Rayna ( McIlwain ) Culver. She was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School and received her three year teaching certificate from Eaton County Normal. She began her teaching career at the age of nineteen at the Pray School near Diamondale, where she had attended her first eight years as a student. Her later studies included a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central Michigan University and additional studies at Western Michigan University and Michigan State University. Necia retired after twenty-eight years of teaching in Eaton, Clinton and Dewitt school systems and twelve years at the Grand River School in Lansing, Michigan.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Johns, Central Michigan University Alumni Association, the Greater Lansing Area Retired School Personnel, the Clinton County Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired Personnel and a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the St. Johns Womena�(TM)s Club.

Survivors include her 3 sons Dan & Janette Beck of Bannister, Michigan, James Beck of St. Johns, Michigan, George Beck of Palms, Michigan, daughter in law, Barbara Beck of St. Johns, Michigan, 13 grandchildren & 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, son Ben in 1988, and daughter in law Lois Beck.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of St. Johns or a charity of the donora�(TM)s choice in her memory. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns Chapel.
