Nedra A. Rayburn age 93 of Ithaca, Michigan died Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Masonic Pathways, Alma, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held at Ithaca First Presbyterian Church Ithaca, MI on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor George Ayoub will officiate with burial at Ithaca Cemetery Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca, Michigan.
Nedra was born in Oakley, Michigan on November 8, 1913 the daughter of Arthur and Ethel ( Allan ) Roof. She resided most of her life in Ithaca, Michigan graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1932. Nedra married Paul H. Rayburn on August 13, 1932 in Riverdale, Michigan. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2004. Nedra worked as a secretary and "gal Friday" to a number of Ithaca High School principals throughout the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was known to generations of Ithaca students for her no-nonsense approach to discipline when needed - but also for her warmsupport and smile. Nedra loved camping and traveling with her husband and family. After retirement she and her husband Paul spent 23 happy years in their small RV, following the sun during the cold winter months, but always returning home to Ithacawhen spring arrived. Nedra was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ithaca. She and Paul also participated in an extensive array of Masonic-related social, fraternal and charitable activities. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family - especially with her many grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Gary & Susan (Hunter) Rayburn of Alma, MI, daughter Dian Frayser & Jack Madison of Boulder City, NV, sister Aneeka Thorton of Coon Rapids, MN, sister in-law Mary Ellen "Lucky" Kilroy of Palm Desert, CA, 6 grandchildren Lesa & Mark Anders of Boulder City, NV, MaryJo & Jonathon Whittum of Boulder City, NV, John & Karen Kinney of Henderson, NV, Matt & Cindy Kinney of Boulder City, NV, Brian & Sue Rayburn of Brethren, MI, Brad Rayburn of Farwell, MI, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and many nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Beth Hartwig and brother Rex Roof.
