Nelda Joyce Beard age 77 of Elsie, Michigan died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Bob Roberts will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 2-8 P.M.
Nelda was born in Sacramento, Kentucky on July 27, 1930 the daughter of Solomon and Myrtle ( Hornback ) Lee. She resided most of her life in Elsie, Michigan. She graduated from Sacramento High School, Sacramento, Kentucky. Nelda married Alvin Beard on July 17, 1969 in Elsie, Michigan. She retired from Midwest Abraisive in Owosso after 20 years. She loved reading and going to the Elsie Library which she supported. Nelda loved gardening and flowers. Her children and grandchildren were very important to her. She also enjoyed going to the family cottage. Nelda was a member of the Elsie Literary Club, and she helped with the cookie and candy walk.
She is survived by her husband Alvin Beard of Elsie, MI, daughter Sherry (Latham) & Gary Thompson of Flint, MI, son Terry & Karen Latham of Calvert City, KY, daughter Marcia (Latham) & Brad Parker of Grant, MI, son Allen Beard of Ovid, MI, daughter Pamela (Beard) Heckman of Owosso, MI, grandson Matthew & Lauren Thompson, granddaughter Melissa Thompson, granddaughter Jennifer (Latham) & Jon Ehlen, granddaughter Kylie Latham, grandson David Latham, granddaughter Kacy (Parker) & Luis Vega, grandson Adam Parker, granddaughter Karen (Beard) Hernandez, granddaughter May Beard, granddaughter Holly Heckman, granddaughter Venus Heckman, 8 great grandchildren, sister Ernestine Ellis of Tuscon, AZ, brother Truman & Artie Lee of Holland, MI and special friend Sidney Shank of Paw Paw, MI. She is predeceased by her parents, son Michael Latham, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital Cancer Research Fund. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
