Nellie Eileen Butler age 80 of Mt. Pleasant, MI died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Central Michigan Community Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Alma Church of the Nazarene, Alma, MI on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 11:00 A.M, Rev. Stephen Shook will officiate and burial will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI on Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI.
Nellie was born in Gallitin County, Illinois on June 11, 1928 the daughter of Benjamin F. and Nellie Mae (Tite) Burroughs. She graduated from Equality High School in South Illinois. Nellie Eileen married Rollo R. Butler on August 23, 1950 in Murphysboro, Illinois. Eileen resided most of her life in Branson, Missouri, before moving to Mt. Pleasant in 2001. She was a member of Alma Church of the Nazarene. She loved her church family. Eileen was a highly skilled homemaker, and a wonderful cook. She was a loving spouse and a devoted mother. She enjoyed her friends and family as well as photography and making photo albums.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years Rollo Butler of Mt. Pleasant, MI, 2 sons; Michael Ray and Maria Butler of Mackinac Island, MI, Floyd Kevin and Janet Butler of Rochester Hills, MI, granddaughter Sarah Diane Butler, and brother Raymond C. and Myrrl Burroughs of Murphysboro, IL. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers; Ben, John and Charles Burroughs, and sisters; Tessie Barlow, Bea Menane, and Dora Silva.
