Nellie E. Wightman, age 90, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Friday, November 6, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. Rev. Susan Kingsley will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 5, 2009 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
Nellie was born in Caldwell, Michigan on July 26, 1919, the daughter of Samuel Wellington and Ina Mae (Silvernail) Anderson. Nellie resided in Owosso since 1934 and was a graduate of Owosso High School.
Nellie married Gerald Moon in 1946 and he passed away in 1957. She later married Ralph Wightman in 1959, he passed away in 2000.
Nellie worked for Indian Trails, Inc. of Owosso. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Owosso where she was active with United Methodist Women and teaching Sunday School and Bible Study. She also was a past member of the Rebekahs. Nellie enjoyed vacationing up north.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Moon of Corunna, MI, brother Sam Anderson of Michigan & Florida, sisters-in-law; Nellie Anderson of Florida, and Lois Anderson of Ovid, MI. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 brothers; Donald and Herbert and 2 sisters; Winifred and Louise.
