Nida Dunham, a local artist, age 89 of Elsie, Michigan died Monday, March 26, 2007 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Justin Shepard will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 6-8 P.M. & Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Nida was born in Elsie, Michigan, Duplain Township on June 29, 1917 the daughter of Edward M. and Viola ( Jeffrey ) Bensinger. She resided most of her life in the Elsie area and graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1934. Nida married Earl L. Dunham on February 3, 1937 in Goshen, Indiana. He died in January 1966. Nida taught oil, china, & charcoal painting to local Central Michigan communities. She was a very talented pianist & orgainist. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Nida was a member & organinst at Duplain Church of Christ and most recently was a member and organist at Eureka Christian Church. She was also a member of the China Painter's Association.
She is survived by daughter Betty & Galen Bashore of Elsie, MI, grandchildren; Bruce & Barbara Bashore of FL, Gary & Beverly Bashore of Hastings, MI, Diana & Jerry Guyski of Owosso, MI, Debra & Randy Hunt of Elsie, MI, great grandchildren; Daisy & Wesley Schafer, Betsy & Chris McCall, Tracy Bashore, Clint Bashore, Tom & Stephanie Bashore, Kathryn & Jason Fries, Jenae & Gary VanEffen, Daniel & Becky Guyski, Mathew & Tina Byrnes, Hillary & Nickolas Fabus, 13 great great granchildren and several nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, Durward, Lonel, Leo & Marshall Bensinger, and 1 sister Wilma Grubaugh.
Memorials may be made to Eureka Christian Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
