Nolan C. Rooks Sr. age 75 of St. Louis, Michigan died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Gratiot Medical Center, Alma, Michigan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mount St. Joseph Catholic Church St. Louis, MI on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Rev. Fr. Kevin Maksym will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel. Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday evening at 5:00 P.M. by Bishop Martin Depornes of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Monestary.
Nolan was born in Breckenridge, Michigan on June 29, 1932 the son of Arthur and Naomi ( Fritz ) Rooks. He resided most of his life in St. Louis, Michigan and graduated from St. Louis High School. Nolan married Phyllis Zumer on October 17, 1959 at St. Stevens Catholic Parish in Saginaw, Michigan. Nolan retired from GM after several years. He was an avid fisher and hunter. He was also a life long farmer. Nolan was a member of Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis M. Rooks of St. Louis, MI, 3 daughters; Margaret Meeks, Julie Rooks, Christine Heeter, 1 son Edward Rooks, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 brother Marvin & Irene Rooks of St. Louis, MI, 1 sister Nancy & Gary Butcher of Wheeler, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, son Nolan C. Rooks Jr. and 2 brothers; Bob & Kenneth.
Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, Mt. St. Josephs Catholic Church or Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
