Nona Jean Call, age 86, of Owosso, MI passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 from 2-8 P.M, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI.
Nona was born in Corunna, Michigan on November 21, 1925, the daughter of Robert and Pearl (Bear) Strauss. She resided most of her life in Owosso. Nona married Charles Pospisil on November 20, 1948. Charles passed away on May 18, 1970. She then married Perry Call on October 5, 1973. Perry passed away on December 27, 1988.
Nona worked for Redmond's in Owosso, Griffith Nursing Home in Corunna and worked at Memorial Healthcare in Owosso for 18 years retiring in March of 1991. She loved to cook & bake. Her sons; Robert, John & wife Jacquelyn, grandsons; Joseph, Timothy & wife Beth, nieces & nephews all held a special spot in her heart. Nona will be fondly remembered for her love of people and the great joy she brought to others. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son Robert Pospisil of Owosso, MI, 2 grandsons; Joe Pospisil of Mishawaka, IN, and Tim and Beth Pospisil of Wayland, MI, daughter-in-law Jackie Pospisil of Corunna, MI, sister Marilyn Conklin of Texas, 4 brothers; Leo and Carm Strauss of Swartz Creek, MI, Jerry and Betty Strauss of Texas, Robert K. and Fran Strauss of Owosso, MI, and Ron and Judy Strauss of Arizona. Nona was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son John Pospisil, stepmother Marcella Strauss, sister Thelma and Sam Vreible, brother Robert L. Strauss, sister-in-law Sharon Strauss and brother-in-law; Clare Conklin.
