Norma Bates

Norma Jean Bates, age 73, of Bannister, Michigan died Saturday, July 28th, 2012 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Wednesday, August 1st at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Mona Kindel will officiate and burial will take place at Ford Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday 6-8 P.M. and on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel.

Norma was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on June 7, 1939, the daughter of Norman Adam and Margery Elaine (Flanner) Roy.

On June 10, 1961 she married Maynard Bates in Elsie, Michigan. Norma was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and watching television. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She had resided most of her life in Vernon, Elsie and Bannister and was a member of TOPS.

She is survived by her husband Maynard Bates of Bannister, MI; 2 daughters Norma and Rick Muzzy of Corunna, MI; Gloria and Jeremy Dolloff of Elsie, MI;
4 sons, Maynard Bates of Bannister, MI; Lloyd and Ardis Bates of Owosso, Mi; Jeff Bates of Bannister, MI; Edward Bates of Owosso, MI; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, Wanda, Elaine, Margery, Janet, one brother Carl.

She was predeceased by parents, daughter in law, Julie. 2 brothers, Jim and Norman.
