Norma Benner

Norma Lorene Benner age 86, of Alma, MI, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., with Dr. Keith Wise officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Norma was born in Ithaca, MI on January 17, 1932, the daughter of Edward Richard and Edna Gladys (Wilson) Chase. Norma married Charles Benner. Norma and Charles spent many years in Texas; after Charles passed away, Norma and her son Tom moved back to Ithaca.

She enjoyed watching soap operas, and game shows, and doing cross word puzzles. Norma lived at Pine Villa for 6 years and enjoyed the company of her neighbors and friends there.  She was very close with her sister Carol and they spoke several times a day. Norma was one of a kind and will be missed by her family.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Huckins of Alma, MI; grandson Matthew Wise of Sumner, MI; grandson Michael; 3 sisters: Carol Miller of Ithaca, MI; Ruthann Beck of Ashley, MI; and Thelma Cheney of Walled Lake, MI. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Tom Benner, and siblings: Fern Lover, Jean Smith, Beverly Thayer, Bud Chase, and Dawn Sisco
