Norman Beach Emery, age 77, of Ashley, MI passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Jerry Drummond officiating. Interment will be held at Collier Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 30, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Norman was born in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on November 4, 1933, the son of Cecil and Elsie (Beach) Emery. Norman graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1952. He served his country in the US Army. On April 20, 1957 Norman married Lois Camburn in Ashley, Michigan.

Norman worked at Buick in Flint retiring in 1996 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed shooting muzzle loaders, and shooting trap and skeet at the sportsman club. Norm also enjoyed going to his cabin at Hubbard Lake fishing & hunting. He resided in Mt. Pleasant before moving to the Ashley area in 1955. He was the former President of Ashley Sportsman Club, and was an assistant Boy Scout Leader and a trainer and was a council member of the Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife Lois Emery of Ashley, MI, 2 daughters; Jean and Wayne Wadsworth of Bannister, MI, Mary Emery of Ovid, MI, 3 sons; David and Christine Emery of Ashley, MI, Daniel and Christine Emery of Ithaca, MI, Robert Emery of Ashley, MI, 3 grandchildren; Derrick Emery and Marci Harris, Elizabeth Emery, and Michael Emery, sister Lois and Harold Augustat of Jackson, MI, and brother, Marvin and Linda Emery of Owosso, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother Alan.
