Olga Bernadette Schlarf, 89, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Cheryl Davis officiating. Burial will take place at Beechler Cemetery, Newark Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Olga was born in Irish Town, MI on March 16, 1930, the daughter of Wendel and Mary (Lenard) Karowictz. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1947. On May 12, 1980, Olga married Robert "Bob" G. Schlarf in Ithaca, MI. She worked as an aide at Masonic Pathways. Olga then worked for Sealed Power/Contech for many years.
Olga was a fantastic cook and baker. Her family loved her swiss steak and turkey and stuffing! A favorite Christmas gift for many family members was her lemon bunt cake. Olga always had a soft spot in her heart for her pets, especially her rescue schnauzer "Murphy." She was a tiny person with a huge heart!
Olga is survived by her husband Bob Schlarf, daughter Johanna Humphrey of Ithaca, 3 step sons: Wayne (Ronda) Schlarf of St. Louis, Steven (Julie Robinson) Schlarf of Saginaw, Dale (Janice) Schlarf of Lake Isabella, nephew Ben (Kimberlee Henrikson) Long of Alma. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Olga is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Patricia Humphrey, son Scott Humphrey, and siblings: George Karowictz, Helen Long, Mary Spanger, Johanna Sophie Oliver, Stanley Guerke, and Joseph Guerke.
