Opal Lucille ( Colbry ) Cross age 91 of Alma, Michigan formerly of St. Louis, Michigan died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at Masonic Pathways Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Masonic Pathways - Doig Chapel Alma, Michigan on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Pastor George Ayoub and Pastor John Robinson will officiate with burial at Pritchard Cemetery Elwell, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, and for one hour prior to services at Masonic Pathways - Doig Chapel.
Opal was born in Archbold, Ohio on April 3, 1915 the daughter of Harvey and Flossie ( Cook ) Gleason. She resided most of her life in the St. Louis and Alma areas and attended St. Louis Schools. Opal married Seymour Colbry on February 11, 1934. He died on August 1, 1965. She then married Roy Cross in September 1966. He died in June 1984. She was a homemaker, and also had worked at Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home as a housekeeper. She liked to sew, quilt, and do ceramics. Opal was also an avid reader, and enjoyed baking and cooking. Opal was a member of OES Chapter 43, a past member of Countryside United Brethren Church of Breckenridge, and the Home Extension Group.
She is survived by 2 children Shirley & Leroy Bass of Sanford, MI, Keith & Patricia Colbry of Alma, MI, 7 grandchildren; Sherry & Roy Clements of Vero Beach, FL, Terry & Zane Hubbard of Ithaca, MI, Kathleen & Craig Hawkins of Midland, MI, Scott & Debbie Wiltse of Edmore, MI, Kevin & Dawn Colbry of Alma, MI, Sheila & Paul Dow of South Haven, MI, Heather DeVore of Alma, MI, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren with 1 on the way. She is predeceased by her parents, both husbands, granddaughter, Kristine Turner on August 5, 2001, 1 brother Carl Gleason, and 1 sister Jean Snater.
Memorials may be made to Forest Hill Church of Christ. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
