Orville William Selfridge, age 82, of Ovid, MI passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 4:00 P.M., with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday prior to the service from 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home.
Orville was born in Grand Ledge, Michigan on January 8, 1933, the son of Rollin and Leah Selfridge. He graduated from high school in Warden, Washington. Orville married Shirley Ann Coleman on Febraury 11, 1956 in Morrice, Michigan.
Orville served in the U.S. Army. He retired after 25 years of service at Woodards of Owosso. He was an avid bowler, loved reading, and woodworking. Orville also loved spending time with family and friends camping and fishing in the UP. He enjoyed browsing the Rainbow Store in Manistique, MI. Orville loved going to his grandchildren's sporting and school events. Family get togethers brought him much joy.
He is survived by 4 daughters; Suzanne Sherman of Maple Rapids, MI, Julayne and Charles Paddock of Ovid, MI, Sherri Hartman of Owosso, MI, and Brenda and James Nalett of Laingsburg, MI, 6 granddaughters; Holly (Paul), Sara (Matt), Christine, Laura, Haley, and Leah, 3 great grandchildren; Dakota and Chloe, and Baby Mara on the way, and brother Alden and Rose Selfridge of Owosso, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife the love of his life, grandaughter Jessica, his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
