Oscar Gates

Oscar J. "Buck" Gates, age 77, of St. Louis, MI died Friday, October 18, 2013 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkside Assembly of God in St. Louis, MI on Sunday, October 20th at 2:00 P.M. Pastor Bob March will officiate.

Buck was born in St. Louis, Michigan on February 16, 1936, the son of Francis and Ruby (Pratt) Gates. He married Amanda (Blanton) Gates on November 7, 1959 in Ithaca, MI. Buck was a lifelong resident of St. Louis. He served in the US Army from 1953-1956, and retired from Lobdell-Emery/Oxford Automotive in 1998. Buck loved fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He Enjoyed his pond, restoring cars and camping with the grandkids. Buck also attended Parkside Assembly of God in St. Louis, MI

He is survived by his wife Amanda Gates of St. Louis, MI; daughter Mary Jo and Mark Graham of St. Louis, MI; grandchildren Brandon Wingle of Ohio; Amanda Jane and Kurtis Gulick-Thomas of North Dakota; Gerald Gulick Jr. of St. Louis, MI; Nicole and Matthew Graham-Martinez of Indiana; Lyndsay Wingle of Breckenridge, MI; Kayla Stajdl of St. Louis, MI; 3 great grandchildren Ella Wingle, Jade Gulick, Isaac Thomas; and a brother Gary and Jacquelyn Gates of St. Louis, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Donna and Jerry Hagarman; and Thelma Zoss.
