Patricia Koenigsknecht, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the age of 90. She was born October 7, 1921 in Hubbardston, MI the daughter of Patrick and Catherine (O'Connell) O'Brien.
Patricia was a member of Most Holy Trinity Parish in Fowler, MI. She was a member of The Daughters of Isabella and The Christian Mothers. She was a home-maker most of her life. She enjoyed playing cards and attending her grandchildren's events, especially sporting events. She was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and was very proud of her Irish heritage.
On May 15, 1954 she married Paul J. Koenigsknecht at St. John the Baptist Church in Hubbardston, MI and he preceded her in death in 2004 after 50 years of marriage.
She was also predeceased by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ken Thelen; two sisters, Marie and Sr. Patrice O'Brien; two brothers, John and James O'Brien; brother-in-law, Richard Hummel; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Margaret Schrauben, and Melvin and Juliana Simon; brother-in-law, John Klein and Monsignor Albert Koenigsknecht.
Surviving are three sons, Frank (Theresa) of DeWitt, Patrick (Martha) of Fenton, and Tim (Robin) of Fowler; ten grandchildren; Brendan and BrigidThelen, Beth, Sarah and Laura Koenigsknecht, Catherine and Christopher Koenigsknecht, and Kelly (Patrick), Kevin and Ryan Koenigsknecht; brother, Kieran O'Brien; sister, Florence Hummel; sister-in-law, Mary Klein; and brother and sister-in-law, George and Joan Koenigsknecht.
The family would like express their appreciation to the Sparrow Hospital nurses, Jamie and Michelle. We would also like to thank the staff of Country Living for the care given to our mother over the last year.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler, MI with Fr. John Klein presiding, and Fr. William Koenigsknecht and Fr. Dennis Howard concelebrating. Burial will follow the services at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a rosary held at 3 and 8 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Home-George Chapel in Fowler, MI. Memorials may be made to the Most Holy Trinity Educational Trust Fund or to Maryknoll Missionaries.
