Patricia Lassen

Patricia Elaine "Pat" Lassen age 83, of St. Louis, MI passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis.

A Funeral Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. with family present from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pat was born in Barryton, MI on November 7, 1934, the daughter of James Franklin and Laura June (Campbell) Lassen.  She graduated from Lapeer High School with the class of 1952, and Moody Bible Institute in 1955.  Pat earned her Bachelors Degree in 1968, along with her Masters Degree in 1969 in Education from CMU.  She lived most of her life in the St. Louis area.

Pat was a school teacher for many years with Head Start, Adult Education, CMU, and retiring from Breckenridge Public Schools in 1990.  If it involved education, Pat was doing it!  She had a great love for children, horses, sewing, and gardening.  Pat was the founder of Pregnancy Services of Gratiot County.  She created the slogan "Middle of the Mitten."  Pat was a giving person and loved to invest herself, emotionally and financially, in the young people around her.

Pat was a very active member of St. Louis Church of Christ and served as director of the missions committee. She loved to travel in her earlier years, and enjoyed many mission trips throughout different countries.  During her two years of missionary service in Brazil, Pat adopted her son David. Pat was a happy woman!

Pat is survived by her son David (Beth) Lassen of Athens, TN, foster daughter Kelly (Steve) Freed of Riverdale, grandchildren: Davey (Lynn) Lassen of St. Louis, Josh (Dawn) Lassen of Virginia Beach, VA, Keith (Brittany) Moore of Grayling, Lacy (Steven) Kobylski of Athens, TN, Zach Freed of Riverdale, Brianna Freed of Riverdale, and Andrew Freed of Riverdale; and 16 great grandchildren.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents, sister Peg Kirby, brother Bob Lassen, 2 half sisters, and a half brother.
