Patricia Ruth "Pat" MacDonald, age 94, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, with Rev. Dr. Susan Sickelka officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI.
Patricia was born in Dewitt Township, MI, on January 23, 1930, the daughter of Clyde and Inez (Curtiss) Kent. She graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1948. Pat married Robert Walter "Bob" MacDonald on July 10, 1949, in Edgewood Church of God. They were blessed with fifty-one years of marriage prior to his passing on June 27, 2001.
Pat was a rural mail carrier in Ithaca for more than 30 years. Pat and Bob purchased the Gratiot County Herald in 1976. She wrote "The Kitchen Kapers" providing the community with delicious recipes. Pat was a cub scout/girl scout leader for many years and after retirement she volunteered at the Masonic Home. She enjoyed golfing at the Gratiot Country Club where she was club champion. Pat and Bob liked traveling and took many trips with their golf group. Pat was famous for her baked goods, especially her chocolate chip cookies that she taught all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids how to make. Pies & cakes were also made and donated to various church functions and fundraisers. Most of all she loved time with family and attending grandchildren's and great grandchildren's events. She was a member of the Ithaca First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her children: Timothy (Jacalyn) MacDonald of Ithaca, MI; Nancy (Douglas) Poff of St. Johns, MI; Thomas (Karla) MacDonald of Ithaca, MI; grandchildren: Angela (Jody) Mason-MacDonald of Arizona; Jason MacDonald of Arizona; David (Erin) Poff of St. Johns, MI; Daniel (Abbey) Poff of South Carolina; Matthew (Monica) Poff of St. Johns, MI; Jennifer (Brad) Pruett of Freeland, MI; Michael MacDonald (Andrea Grabowski) of Gregory, MI; Jasmine (Nehemiah) Mungure of Alma, MI; Mary Beth (Luke) Rohrs of Ithaca, MI; Amber (Eric) Clerc of Breckenridge, MI; Morgan (Forrest) King of Lansing, MI; and 21 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Inez Kent, her husband Robert, her sister Imogene (Joe) Beracy, her brothers: Robert (Virginia) Kent and Max (Emma) Kent, and grandson Dustin "Dusty" MacDonald.
