Patricia Anne "Pat" Rieves, shortly before her 21st birthday at the age 83, of DeWitt, MI, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church, St. Johns, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, with Pastor Jim Pearl officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Elba Township, MI. Visitation will be held 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel.
Patricia was born in Owosso, Michigan on February 29, 1940, the daughter of Frank Joseph and Libbie A. (Dinstbier) Houska. She graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1958. On February 17, 1962, Patricia married Ronald James Rieves at Central United Methodist Church, Lansing MI. They have been married nearly sixty-two years.
Pat was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir for many years and was very active in the LWML. She enjoyed attending LWML conventions. She liked to cross-stitch and read. Before devoting herself to being a homemaker, Pat was a secretary at MSU and the tax department for the State of Michigan. Most of all, she loved her family and devoted herself to caring for them.
She is survived by her husband Ron, three children: Roxanne (Jim) Gleason of St. Johns, MI; Randy Rieves of Lansing, MI; and Ryan Rieves of DeWitt, MI; two grandchildren: Kristin (Stephen) Vlahakis, and Kaitlyn (Ty) Cook; great-grandson Louis Vlahakis; her brother Bill (Cindy) Houska; one nephew Russ (Jean Kelly) Rieves; and two nieces: Renee (Phil) Taft, and Tara (Seth) Poche. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson Connor Gleason.
