Patricia Stapleton

Patricia Lou “Pat” Stapleton, age 91, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019, at Rosewood Adult Foster Care, Ithaca, MI.

In following Pat's wishes, a cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Patricia was born in Ithaca, Michigan on February 12, 1928, the daughter of William and Alethea (Veeder) Irish.  She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1946 and later earned a bachelor's in Elementary Education from CMU.  On January 15, 1949, Patricia married Victor Stapleton at Ithaca Presbyterian Church, Ithaca, MI. They were blessed with 70 1/2 years of marriage.

Pat enjoyed cross stitching, crossword puzzles, and reading. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Pat attended all of her grandchildren's sporting events and cheered them on loudly. She was an avid Ithaca Yellow Jacket fan. Pat taught third grade at Ithaca North Elementary for 22 years and retired in 1994.

Pat is survived by her husband Victor Stapleton of Ithaca, MI; children:  Kathryn (Maynard) Stone of Traverse City, MI; William (Cindy) Stapleton of Ithaca, MI; Mary (Rex) Moomey of Ithaca, MI; Michele Stapleton of Bay City, MI; and Maureen Larsen of Greenville, MI.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Dohm, Heidi Bell, Jeb (Cassie) Stone, Whitney Stone, Seth (Kelly) Stapleton, Luke (Jillian) Stapleton, Hannah (Glenn) Purvis, Sadie (Jake) Zavala, Creed (Kaitlyn) Stapleton, Noah (Kim) Moomey, Tyler (Cindy) Moomey, Drew (Alyssa) Moomey, Ashley Larsen, Jonathan (Julia) Larsen, and Joseph Larsen; 28 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Doris Schauer, and sister-in-law Dolores Timperley.  Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Marjorie Derby.
