Patricia "Patty" Edgar

Patricia "Patty" Edgar age 57 of Ithaca, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Ithaca Wesleyan Church, Ithaca, MI, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Doug Strait and Pastor Chris Mikesell officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.

Patricia was born in Alma, MI on May 29, 1960 the daughter of Delbert Wolfe and Betty (Mills) Woods.  She graduated from Ithaca High School with the class of 1978. Patty married Mark Edgar on September 29, 1979 in Ithaca. Patty went on to attend Central Michigan University where she received her bachelors degree in early childhood development with honors, all while raising her family and working.

Patty taught first and second grades at the Ithaca South Elementary School for over 23 years. She was involved in forming and chaperoning the school ski club. Patty and Mark spent several years developing relationships through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Gratiot and Montcalm Counties. She enjoyed traveling, especially to warm beaches and to Florida visiting family. Patty liked morning walks with her beloved dog Abby and step father Ted. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren, especially the time they spent together at their pool. She was the rock of her family, always caring for others and spent her entire life giving to others; including after she passed as an organ donor.

She is survived by her husband Mark Edgar of Ithaca, MI, sons: Zachary and JoElle Edgar of Portland, MI; Kory and Erin Edgar of Wheeler, MI; step father Theodore "Ted" Woods of Sumner, MI, grandchildren: Kinley and Carter; sister Shirley and Gary Mikesell of Frankfort, IN; brother Randy and Becky Wolfe of Crossville, TN; mother in law Kay Edgar of Ithaca, MI; and brother in law Carey and Maria Edgar of Highlands Ranch, CO. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, father in law Richard Edgar and brother in law Rodney Edgar.
