Paul Edward Filan age 79 of Owosso, MI died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 2:00 P.M., Rev. George Law and Pastor Rick Bowen will officiate with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI.

Paul was born in Owosso, Michigan on July 23, 1929, the son of Alexander and Nina (Smith) Filan. He graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1947. He resided most of his life in Owosso. Paul served his country in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. Paul married Eva Woodworth on June 3, 1950. She died in May of 1985. He then married Dorothy Bailey on December 7, 1985. Paul was a supervisor at Johnson Controls. He retired after 43 years of service. Paul was an avid golfer and bowler. He played basketball for local teams. He loved to sing. Paul was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Owosso, MI.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy "Dot" Filan of Owosso, MI, children; Paul and Teresa Filan of Sturgis, MI, Cheryl and Bob Cole of Byron, MI, Mark and Sue Filan of Corunna, MI, David and Maggie Filan of Mancelona, MI, Keith and Carol Bailey of Corunna, MI, Carroll Bailey Jr. of Corunna, MI, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Catherine Potter of Owosso, MI, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, first wife Eva, and grandson Joshua Filan in January 2008.
