Paul Theodore Schulz, age 91, of Bannister, Michigan passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Joel Thomford officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Paul was born in Sebewaing, Michigan on July 25, 1923, the son of William F. and Martha C. (Strieter) Schulz. On June 24, 1944 he married Martha Rae Bishop in Fenmore, Michigan, Martha predeceased him less than a month ago on November 23, 2014. Paul served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He moved to Bannister in 1957 and was a heavy machine operator for the Operating Engineers Union. Paul enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing; he made Maple syrup and wine for many years; and he always had a huge garden. He was a member of the NRA, Operating Engineers Union, and the Marion Springs Conservation Club. He was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church Chesaning, Michigan.

He is survived by 2 daughters; Martha Lynn Schulz, Laurel and Howard Andersen, 3 sons; Ted and Deb Schulz, Neil and Annette Schulz, Kris Schulz, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Mable Geegauff, and Bernice Dykes. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
