Paulene Terwilliger

Paulene R. Terwilliger age 86 of Harrison, Michigan formerly of Alma, Michigan died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Mr. Mark Salchert will officiate with burial at Chapel Garden Cemetery Seville Township, Michigan on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 from 2-6 P.M.

Paulene was born in Crystal, Michigan on May 4, 1921 the daughter of Claude and Opal ( Morey ) Smith. She grew up in the St. Louis area, and resided most of her life in Alma and graduated from St. Louis High School. Paulene married Fred Terwilliger on July 25, 1942 in St. Louis, Michigan. He died on February 26, 2006. She waorked for 14 years at the Customer Service desk at Giant Way in Alma, MI. Paulene was an avid letter writer and bowled on a womans league in the past. She enjoyed their retirement home at Budd Lake, and having friends and family over. Paulene was active in the Alma VFW Ladies Auxillary.

She is survived by 3 children; Janice & tom Salchert of Blanchard, MI, Lyle Terwilliger & special friend Gail of Alma, MI, Tom Terwilliger & special friend Penny of St. Louis, MI, 7 grandchildren; Aaron & Jen Leonard, Joseph Leonard, Scott Terwilliger, Jamie Terwilliger, Casey Terwilliger, Thomas B. Terwilliger, Elijah Terwilliger, several great grandchildren, and 2 special friends & caregivers; Linda Fairchild of Harrison, MI, and Michelle Dickinson of Mt. Pleasant, MI. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Memorials may be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice or the Mid-Michigan Hospital in Clare. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
