Pauline "Denny" Hill, age 86, of Owosso, MI passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 20, 2012 from 4-8 P.M. and Friday, September 21, 2012 from 4-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI. Burial will take place 11:00 A.M. Monday September 24, 2012 at Benona Township Cemetery, Shelby, MI.
Pauline was born in Hart, Michigan on April 8, 1926, the daughter of Paul Joseph and Madaline (Wolfe) Dennert. Denny resided most of her life in Owosso.
On June 24, 1950 Pauline married Jean Wahl Hill. Jean passed away in February of 1990. He was a GM retiree and WWII Army Veteran.
In 1949 Denny graduated from Western Michigan University. In 1947 she played baseball with the Muskegon Lassies in the All American Girl's Professional Baseball League. In 1949 she started teaching and coaching at Owosso High School. Denny coached Girl's Basketball, Girl's Softball and Cheerleading. She was a founding member of Michigan Girl's Athletic Association. The OHS Girl's Softball field is named in her honor. In between having children, Denny taught at St. Paul's School and Corunna High School before returning to Owosso High School from where she retired. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her 3 daughters; Pat and Bob Dennison of Owosso, MI, Sue and Brad Smith of Vernon, MI, Mary and Scott Rentschler of Saline, MI, 2 sons; Paul and Brenda Hill of Owosso, MI, George Hill of Owosso, MI, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Denny was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Francis, brother Gilbert, nephew Wayne and several cousins of the Foster and Dennert families.
