Pedro Soliz

Pedro Soliz age 86 of Ovid, MI, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna, MI.

Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Houghton Chapel, Ovid, MI, on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. followed by the Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M., with Fidencio and Joann Palacio officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery, Ovid, MI at a later date.

Pedro was born in Victoria, Texas on September 17, 1932 the son of Rafael and Silverita (Villarreal) Soliz.  Pedro married Leonore Salinaz on July 10, 1954 in St. Johns, MI.  He resided most of his life in Ovid.

Pedro was a talented musician, guitar player, singer and accordion player.  He loved to golf and fish.  Pedro also enjoyed playing cards and doing word searches.  He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and he loved to make others laugh.  Pedro was very generous and had a giving heart, he opened his home to anyone that needed help.  He and Leonore, his loving wife of 64 years, spent all their time together and enjoyed many vacations over the years.  Pedro retired from General Motors Flint Truck and Bus in 1985.

He is survived by his wife Leonore Soliz of Ovid, MI; daughter Linda Soliz of Ovid, MI; daughter Alice and Edwin Daniel Jones of Ovid, MI; son Pedro and Kristy Soliz, Jr. of Laingsburg, MI; son Adam and Lisa Soliz of Owosso, MI; son Rafael and Shellie Soliz of Ovid, MI; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: Rudolfo and Helen Soliz of Texas; Rumaldo and Rosemary Soliz of Missouri; Medardo Soliz of Florida; and Rafael and Barbara Soliz of Chapin, MI, and sister Angelica Longoria of Ovid, MI.  Pedro was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters: Esmeralda Ramirez and Aurora Rodriguez.
