Petronella "Pearl" Smalley age 79 of Owosso, Michigan, died on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso, Michgian. Mass of Christian Burill will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church Owosso, Michigan on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Fr. John Fain will officiate and burial will be at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be on Monday evening 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan.
Petronella was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 31, 1928, the daughter of Walter & Victoria (Gralla) Szalkowski. She attended school in the Detroit area and resided most of her life in Owosso, Michigan. On November 15, 1947 he and Edward Smalley were married in Owosso, Michigan. He passed away on January 13, 1995.
She loved playing bingo, crocheting and reading books. Her grandchildren & great-grandchildren were very important to her. She was a fan of the Detroit Tigers. Pearl was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society.
Survivors include her 6 children, Michael & Betty Smalley of Rives Junction, MI, Shirley & Bob Allen of Grove, OK, Judy Smalley of Owosso, MI, Rosie & Jim Rust of Owosso, MI, Andrew & Kim Smalley of Owosso, MI, Randy Smalley of Owosso, MI, 8 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Florence Szalkowski of Detroit, MI, her twin sister, Dorothy Smolinski of Detroit, MI, 5 sister-in-laws, Patty & Carl Anderson of Barryton, MI, Lucille Perish of Warren, MI, Ann Szalkowski of Chicago, IL, Rose George of Owosso, MI, Ann Smalley of Owosso, MI. She was predecesded by her parents, husband, 1 sister Loretta, 1 brother Raymond, 3 children, and 1 grandson.
