Philip Donald Wintermute, 63 years of age, beloved brother, uncle, friend, died September 8, 2008 at his home in Lansing. Born February 26, 1945 in Weiser, Idaho, Phil was a long time resident of Michigan and lived in Lansing the last years of his life.
Phil was a gentle and thoughtful man who enjoyed writing, creating music and poetry, and performing with several musicians throught the country, in Lansing, and elsewhere. He was an active co-creator and coordinator of the Blissfest in Cross Village for many years.
Phil is survived by two sisters and three brothers: Mary Ellen Briganti of Lansing, Michael and Shirley Wintermute of Indiana, Edwin and Beth Wintermute of Maryland, Edith and Gordon Jendrasiak of North Carolina, and Jack and Nancy Wintermute of Minnesota. Phil is also survived by twenty nieces, nephews, and their children as well as the family's of Elderly Instruments, Earthworks Music, and Blissfest. Phil was preceded in death by two of his brothers: Jim and Rob Wintermute.
His services and a time to share memories will be 6:00 P.M. Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Fred Thelen officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorials to Blissfest Music Organization, 325 E. Lake St., Petoskey, MI 49770.
