Phyllis Arlene Chappel age 73 of Owosso, Michigan died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Heritage Manor Flint, MI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Owosso, MI on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Fr. John Fain will officiate with burial at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 from 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday, April 29, 2008 from 2-8 P.M. with the family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI. Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.

Phyllis was born in Mundy Township, Michigan on September 26, 1934 the daughter of Clayton and Antonia Faye ( Krusyne ) Elton. Phyllis suffered from numerous medical problems, especially rheumatoid arthritis since she was 8 years old. She graduated with high honors from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Flint, Michigan with the class of 1952. Phyllis was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters; Theresa & Carl Backus of Celina, OH, Kathy Jenkins of Owosso, MI, son Chris & Stephanie Chappel of Owosso, MI, 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Edith & Cecil Adams, and brother Theodore & Dorothy Elton of Flint, MI. She is predeceased by her son Michael, father Clayton Elton, and mother Antonia "Faye" Elton.

Memorials may be made to Arthritis Foundation or Hospice. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
