Phyllis Marie (Zumer) Rooks

     Phyllis Marie Rooks, age 85, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022, at Stratford Pines Nursing Home, Midland, MI.

     Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  Burial will take place at a later date in Jasper Township Cemetery, St. Louis, MI.

     Phyllis was born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 14, 1936, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Almy) Zumer. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the class of 1954.  On October 17, 1959, Phyllis married Nolan Clare Rooks, Sr. at St. Stevens Catholic Church in Saginaw, MI. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage prior to his death on February 10, 2008. She was a long time member of Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI.

     Phyllis was an Avon Representative for over 25 years. She was a gifted baker and made cakes for her family and many others in the area.

     Phyllis is survived by 4 children: Margaret Rooks, Julie Rooks, Ed Rooks, and Christine Heeter; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and Edwina (Steve) Jurik. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Nolan Rooks, Jr.
