Phyllis B. Smith age 84 of Alma, Michigan died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at James Cartwright Care Center, Saginaw, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Thursday, October 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Steven Young and Mr. Mark Monroe will officiate with burial at Emerson Township Cemetery Emerson Township, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2007 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Phyllis was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on December 24, 1922 the daughter of Willis J. and Jenny Hazel ( Dodson ) Webster. She resided in Gratiot County since 1970. She graduated from Saginaw High School with the class of 1940. Phyllis married Walter L. Dewey on April 4, 1942 in Saginaw, MI. She later married Dale D. Smith on July 10, 1970 in Saginaw, MI. He died on May 24, 2007. She was a homemaker. She had worked for the Michigan Sugar Company. She loved to crochet, quilting, and gardening. Phyllis a past member of First Baptist Church in Saginaw and current member of Beebe United Methodist Church for the past 37 years and a member of the Beebe United Methodist Women.

She is survived by 2 children; Trina & Kenneth Haggerty of Hemlock, MI, Gary Dewey & special friend Tammy Thomas of Ludington, MI, 3 stepchildren; Gayla & Lee Foster of Ithaca, MI, Rebecca & David Adams of Alma, MI, David & Sue Smith of Kent City, MI, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, granddaughter Amy Haggerty, 3 brothers and 1 half sister.

Memorials may be made to James Cartwright Care Center, Saginaw, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
