Phyllis W. “Tiny” Trefil, of Perrinton, MI age 79, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Ashley Care Center Ashley, MI.
She was born December 29, 1936 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Ira and Beatrice (Eddington) DeMarais. On May 4, 1957 Phyllis married Joseph S. Trefil at St. Johns, Michigan. Joe predeceased her on December 3, 2004. Phyllis worked as a Nurses Aid at Clinton Memorial Hospital until the birth of their first child. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her home, watching her children and grandchildren play sports, loved gardening, and cooking fish caught by Joe and his fishing buddies.
Phyllis is survived by her children; Duane (Nancy) Trefil of Perrinton, Daryl (Tammy) Trefil of Maple Rapids, Darwin Trefil of Perrinton, Derwin "Pete" (Kelly) Trefil of Perrinton, Darrin "Buzz" (Tammie) Trefil of Belleville, Dawn Trefil and (Thane Erskin) of Carson City, and Donna (Robb) Coleman of Texas, 17 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Ardith Taylor, sister in law Sharon DeMarais of St Johns, brother in laws; Thomas (Barb) Trefil of St Johns, Robert Whitford of Rapid River, Charles "Don" Smith of Ithaca, and sister in law Sarah Trefil of Sumner. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Deanna and loving husband Joe, as well as her twin brother Phillip DeMarais, brother in law William Taylor, John (Evelyn) Trefil, Frank (Carol) Trefil, Evelyn (Keith) Johnson, June (Stan) Swan, Gertrude Whitford, Nancy Smith, Robert Trefil, and Danny (Joyce) Trefil.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church, Perrinton, MI on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Nate Harburg officiating. Interment will be in Fulton Center Cemetery, Perrinton, MI. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, 104 East Cass Street, St Johns, MI, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 3-8 P.M. and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
