Ralph Edward Lab, age 78, of Owosso, MI passed away Sunday, November 2, 2008 at his home with his family around him.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM, Rev. Susan Kingsley will officiate. Burial will take place at Fairfield Township Cemetery Fairfield Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 2-8 PM and Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 11-1 PM prior to the service at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel.
Ralph was born in Owosso, Michigan on May 7, 1930, the son of Frederick W. and Mittie Mae (Mullins) Lab. He resided most of his life in Owosso. Ralph married Nellie Schneider on May 28, 1955 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Owosso. Ralph retired from TruMark of Lansing in 1995. He served his country in the US Army and then later in the Air Force, for a total of 10 1/2 years, serving in; Guam, Korea, China and 2 years in Japan. Ralph was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, The Moose Lodge and the VFW. He loved doing wood work in his shop, spending time with his family, working on his genealogy for hours and he was an avid reader. Ralph was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Nellie Lab of Owosso, MI, son Bradley and Gwen Lab of Owosso, MI, daughter Peggy Golab of Owosso, MI, son Rodney and Judy Lab of Owosso, MI, daughter Terry and Joseph Trombley of Apopka, FL, 11 grandchildren; Sarah, Gavin, Gordon, Brandon, Blake, Bret, Kristopher, Denise, Kelly, Holly and Robert, 15 great-grandchildren, sister Frances and George Foster of Owosso, MI, sister-in-law Norma Harmon of Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his step-mother Mabell Lab, his step-father Karl Lyter, 3 brothers; Charles (Gus), Victor and Fred Lab, and son-in-law, Frank Golab.
