Ray Theodore Bowers age 86 of Corunna, Michigan died Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility Corunna, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel Corunna, MI on Thursday October 19, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Ted Merriman will officiate with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 6-8 & Wednesday, October 18, 2006 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.

Ray was born in Owosso, MI on January 20, 1920 the son of Issac William and May Etta ( Ferrall ) Bowers. He resided most of his life in the Corunna area and graduated from Corunna High School with the class of 1938. Ray married Doris Lutz on March 7, 1942 in El Segundo, CA. Ray served as a sheriffa�(TM)s deputy in Shiawassee County, and then became Under Sheriff and served under three sheriffs. He retired in 1980 from the Shiawassee County Sheriffa�(TM)s Office. Ray was a member of the Corunna VFW, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also served in the Pacific Theater in a field artillery unit in the U.S. Army in WWII.

He is survived by his wife Doris Bowers of Corunna, MI, son Robert Bowers of Corunna, MI, daughter Sharon & Quentin Brainerd of Owosso, MI, daughter-in-law Ann Bowers of Owosso, MI, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 brother Clem Sellers of Owosso, MI. He is predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and a son Daniel Bower in 2004.

Memorials may be made to Corunna Baptist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes,
Corunna Chapel.
