Raymond "Ray" Elmer Higley, age 86, of St. Louis, MI died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Minister John Robinson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 5-8 PM. at the funeral home.
Raymond was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on February 12, 1926, the son of Elmer and Waneta (Messenger) Higley. He married Mary Howd on August 8, 1955 in Ithaca, MI. Ray was a mechanic, and operated the Mobile Station in St. Louis, and also worked for Gundermans Service Station. He loved woodworking, and making clocks. He also loved fishing, hunting, and all animals, especially his cat Runt. Ray served his country in the US Army. He was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Mary Higley of St. Louis, MI, daughter Anna and Bobby Peter of El Campo, TX, several nieces and nephews, and sister in law Margaret San Miguel of Virginia Beach, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and an infant brother.
