Raymond Calvin Hughson age 99, of Mason, MI, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Riverwind Assisted Living, Williamston, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at Mason Community Church, 1000 East Columbia Street, Mason, MI 48854, on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Steve Malson officiating. Visitation will follow the service on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with military honors.
Raymond was born in Flint, MI on February 17, 1919, the son of Ray A. and Elgie (Wright) Hughson. . Ray served as Sergeant in the U.S. Army 161st Infantry, 25th "Tropical Lighting" Division. Raymond married Adelina Marie Link On July 2, 1949, in Holt, MI; she passed away in April 2003.
Ray was a retired truck driver for General Motors. He was a member of Holt Presbyterian Church. Ray lived a full life, loved farming and got the bull by the tail. Being the outlaw he was, he would rather be shot than poisoned.
He is survived by his children: Barbara and Ronald Burgess of Dansville, MI; Patricia and Dan Lipstraw of Hastings, MI; Fred and Linda Hughson of Mason, MI; Norma and Tim Standley of Salisbury, NC; 11 grandchildren: Daniel Burgess, Helen Fisher, Michael Lipstraw, Matthew Lipstraw, Megan Newton, Lance and Luke Hughson, Amanda and Jacob Fellows, Jesse and Clint Standley; 6 great grandchildren and sister in law Joyce Hughson of Ovid, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Adelina Hughson, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
The family is very thankful for the loving care Ray received from the Riverwind staff and the Hospice Care Team.
