Reatha Maynard

Reatha F. Maynard age 91 of Elsie, Michigan died on January 12, 2008 at Ashley Care Center. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. The funeral services will take place at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Herb Wheelock will officiate and burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery Elsie, Michigan.
Reatha was born in Fenmore, Michigan on September 27, 1916 the daughter of James P. & Bernice (Hall) Gillis. She graduated from Elsie High School with the class of 1934 and had resided all of her life in the Elsie area. On April 16, 1938 she married Albert E. Maynard in Gaines, Michigan, Albert predeceased her on March 7, 1993. She was a homemaker, she enjoyed traveling, baking and gardening. Reatha was a member of the Chapin United Methodist Church for 70 years. She was the communion stewart at the church for over 50 years. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women and served as the president for many years. Reatha said many times in her life, " I've been called to be a servant".
Survivors include her daughter, Janet & Kenneth Swanson of Bannister, Michigan, 1 son, Gene & Sharon
Maynard of Elsie, Michigan, 2 granddaughters, Luanne & Don Marrah, Karmen & Chad Bush, 2 grandsons, Steve & Julie Maynard, Tim & Audrey Swanson, 4 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 1 sister in law
Martha Gillis of Florida. She was predecesed by her parents, husband, 1 sister, Stella Keyser, 2 brothers, Merle & Gerald.
