Renita Best

Renita Mae Best age 67 of Ithaca, MI, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016, at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Carl Cecil officiating.  Burial will be at Chapel Garden Cemetery, Seville Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016, from 4 to 6 P.M. and Monday, November 7, 2016 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Renita was born in Gering, Nebraska on November 18, 1948, the daughter of Eugene and Esther (Pollock) Wilson.  She graduated with the class of 1967 from St. Louis High School. Renita married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Best on May 4, 1968 at the St. Louis United Methodist Church.

Renita spent most of her life in Gratiot County.  She loved to spend time with her family camping, baking, play cards, and going to the casino.  She retired from Alma Public Schools after 23 years of service.  She was also a hair stylist for several years.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth, daughter Michelle and Greg McMath of St. Louis, MI, son Greg and Sheila Best of Fenton, MI, 7 grandchildren; Danielle (Phil) Baldwin, Kristen McMath, Katelyn DiVietri, Maci Best, Anthony DiVietri, Madilyn Best, Carli Best, 2 great grandchildren; Kennedy and Evelyn Baldwin, sister Sharon and Bob Swander, many nieces and nephews, and "Dutch Daughter" Ineke Delis of the Netherlands.  Renita was preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley Hubbard, and brothers; Sonny Wilson and Darrell Wilson.
