Richard Border

Richard Alvin "Dick" Border age 83, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Alma, MI.

Memorial Services will be held at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI, on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Nate Harburg officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI.

Dick was born in Clare, MI on May 30, 1935, the son of Alvin and Dorthea (Thayer) Border. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.  He married Ernestine Krezan on March 5, 1973, in Ohio.

Dick drove truck for many years. He enjoyed farming. Dick loved snowmobiling, motorcycles, boating, and traveling in his RV. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI.

He is survived by his wife Ernestine Border of St. Louis, MI, children: Maura and David Davis, Sheryl and Beckie Fausett, Sally Border, Richard and Vicky Border, Steven and Ross Border, Doug and Rachelle Border, Judy and Herb Wybenga, Mike and Cindy Border, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Patty Homister, and sister Joyce and Steve Zeien. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Brandon Border, sister Angela Border Conroy, and brother Tom Fanning.
