Richard K. Cook, passed away August 25, 2011, at the age of 60. He was born on April 24, 1951, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Vernon and Goldie Mae (Earls) Cook. Rich married Diane Gillespie on November 12, 1993 in Okemos, Michigan and she survives him. Rich was a substitute school teacher for Clinton County, a member of the National Rifle Association and retired from the State of Michigan as an Industrial Hygienist with MIOSHA.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Richard (Ashley Oswald) Cook II, Chris (Casey J.) Gillespie and Dominic (Mallorie) Gillespie; grandson, Lennon Warner Gillespie and members of the Manshum, Nurenburg and Sims families. Rich is also survived by his sister Donna (Steve) Burghdoff; brother, Lyle Cook; sisters-in-law, Lynn (Mike) Kavanagh and Laurie (Al) Pennell; brother-in-law, Bob Middaugh and many nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents and sister Linda Middaugh.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends, 6-8 Sunday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday with a vigil service at 7 pm on Monday. Sympathy may be expressed in the form of memorial contributions to Gift of Life Foundation or the National Rifle Association.
